🗳️ Elections & Parties

The server is run by a Prime Minister — a real player, elected by everyone, who sets taxes and spends the government's money. Power flows through parties.

Parties

• /hideoutia party list — see all parties
• /hideoutia party join <party> — join one (you can only be in one party — joining another switches you)
• /hideoutia party leave — leave
• /hideoutia party info [party] — membership, leader, any live leadership election

Leadership:

• The first player to join an empty party automatically becomes its leader (you'll get a letter).
• If a leader leaves their party, the longest-standing member is promoted automatically.
• Party leaders matter: only party leaders can run for Prime Minister.

Challenging your party leader

Don't like your leader? Members can force a leadership election:

1. /hideoutia party trigger-election — when 20% of the party's members have called for one, it triggers (everyone in the party gets a letter)
2. 24-hour candidacy window — any member can stand with /hideoutia party candidate
3. 24-hour ballot — members vote with /hideoutia party vote <name>
4. Winner becomes leader immediately

⚠️ While a leadership election is running, nobody can join the party and no new challenges can start.

Prime Minister elections

• Starts automatically on the 1st of every month — every player gets a letter
• Candidates = the current leader of every party (parties without a leader sit it out)
• 72 hours to vote: /hideoutia vote <candidate> — one vote each, you can change it by voting again
• Winner takes power on the 5th of the month
• /hideoutia election status — what's running and the deadlines, /hideoutia election candidates — who's standing

Tie-break: the sitting PM wins ties if they're a candidate; otherwise it's deterministic — no coin flips.

⚡ Snap elections

Two ways to dissolve the government early:

• The PM can call one: /hideoutia election snap — a full PM election starts immediately, and the winner takes power the moment voting closes (no waiting for the 5th).
• The public can force one: /hideoutia election demand — when 10% of every player who has ever joined the server demands it, a snap election fires automatically. (Petitions only unlock once the server has 50+ all-time players. /hideoutia election status shows petition progress.)

Demands reset whenever any PM election starts — you can't instantly re-trigger after an election you just had.

Why your vote matters

The PM personally controls:

• All four tax rates (your income, shop sales, land sales, rent)
• The government treasury — every tax penny, spendable at will
• Land approval — whether your plot request gets granted, and at what price
• Welfare continues regardless, but the treasury that pays it is theirs to drain
