🪧 Sign Guide

Three kinds of magic sign run Hideoutia's economy: [Shop] signs for player trading, [Gov Shop] signs for official treasury stores, and [Plot] signs for land. Here's everything about them.

🛒 Shop signs — [Shop]

Create one (you need a chest or barrel):

1. Place your chest and stock it
2. Put a sign on the chest (or directly above it)
3. Write:

• Line 1 — [Shop], exactly (case doesn't matter)
• Line 2 — the item's name: DIAMOND, IRON_INGOT, COOKED_BEEF, OAK_LOG...
• Line 3 — prices:
  • B 100 → players buy from you at $100
  • S 40 → players sell to you at $40
  • B 100 : S 40 → both directions
• Line 4 — leave blank; your name appears automatically

If everything checks out the sign lights up with formatted prices (B $100 : S $40). If not, you'll be told what's wrong — usually a typo'd item name or no chest.

Use one:

• Right-click → buy 1 item from the shop
• Sneak + right-click → sell 1 item to the shop
• A one-price shop does its only trade on any click
• The owner right-clicking their own sign sees shop info instead

Rules of the trade:

• The sign price is the full price paid; whoever receives money pays sales tax on it
• Out of stock / no space / owner broke → the trade refuses cleanly, nothing is lost
• One shop per chest; nobody else can break, hopper, piston, or explode your shop
• Break your own sign or chest to close the shop

🏛️ Government shop signs — [Gov Shop]

Admins (hideoutia.shop.admin) create official stores backed by the treasury. No chest — just the sign:

• Line 1 — [Gov Shop] (case doesn't matter); without the admin permission, creation is refused
• Lines 2–3 — same as a player shop (item, then B/S prices)
• Line 4 — fills in as Government

How they behave:

• Infinite stock and capacity — never empty, never full
• Buying sends your money to the treasury and conjures the item; no sales tax (the state is the receiver and doesn't tax itself)
• Selling destroys the item and pays you from the treasury; you're the receiver, so sales tax applies as usual
• The treasury can run negative at generous buy prices — an economy lever for the PM
• Only an admin can break a gov shop sign (which removes it)

🌍 Plot signs — [Plot]

A plot sign is a live status board + sales desk for the land it stands in.

Create one (you must own the plot — or be PM/admin for government land):

1. Stand inside your plot and place a sign anywhere in its bounds
2. Write [Plot] on line 1, leave the rest blank

Or link from outside (apartment hallways!): place the sign anywhere in the same world and put the plot id on line 2 (find it with /hideoutia plot info or /hideoutia plot list):

Perfect for a row of signs next to each flat's door.

The sign links itself to the plot it's inside (the innermost plot — put a sign in a sub-plot and it serves that flat, not the whole building) and renders the live status automatically:

• FOR SALE $5,000 — listed for sale
• FOR LEASE $250/7d — listed for rent
• Owner's name — privately held, not on the market

The text updates itself whenever the plot's status changes — list, unlist, sale, lease, eviction.

Buy or rent from one:

• Right-click a FOR SALE or FOR LEASE sign
• First click shows you the deal; click again within 10 seconds to confirm — no fat-finger purchases
• Buying transfers the land on the spot; leasing charges your first rent payment and moves you in

Protection: plot signs can only be broken by the plot's owner (or PM/admin for state land), and they're guarded against pistons and explosions. Breaking yours just unlinks the sign — the plot itself is untouched.

Prices on signs show compact ($1,234); your full balance keeps its cents.
